Dr. Natalie Yates, Ph.D.
In December of 2020, Dr. Yates moved to Louisiana. She is working as a university professor. We are very glad that she will remain on our clinical staff at PCC and will continue providing counseling services to women, teens and children through video sessions.
Dr. Natalie Yates is a Clinical Social Worker and Creative Play Psychotherapist with 13 years experience working in the mental health industry. With an eclectic combination of integrating cognitive behavioral therapy with play therapy, Dr. Yates help her patients deal with with anxiety, self-esteem, depression, communication, family or relationship issues, and overall personal growth.
Dr. Yates graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University, after which she received her Joint Masters of Social Work from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University/University of North Carolina-Greensboro. and a doctorate from Walden University in Family Interventions.
With over ten years of counseling experience across a variety of treatment settings including private practice, inpatient substance abuse and community based services, Dr. Yates has experience providing individual, couples, family and group therapy using client-centered, strength-focused, and cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approaches.
During her studies at NCA&T, Natalie worked as resident counselor at Methodist Home For Children where she assisted patients towards their emotional, physical, and social development. Post graduation, she began her career working at outpatient clinics where she provided individual, family and group therapy to teens and adults. Natalie also has experience in working with children and teens in a public sector, as she served as a therapist with Asheboro City Schools, collaborating with families and school staff on an array of “pullout” interventions, including evaluation, crisis services, diagnosis, individual, group, family therapy, case management and day treatment.
Her exceptional record has been acknowledged with awards and accolades over the years including Social Worker of the Year in 2011. To date, Natalie serves clients as a Licensed Clinical Specialist, serving clients in vast areas of treatment including addictive behaviors, teen issues, parent/child relational issues, non-suicidal self-harm behavior and mood disorders.
Utilizing a holistic approach by exploring with and educating clients about how mind, spirit and body are interconnected, Dr. Yates approaches client relationships with the theory of with the right support, people can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, ushering in a fresh freedom and welcomed change, that they need and deserve.
