Child Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy for children and teens can be a crucial way for you to invest in your family.  There is no perfect family and we all struggle at times.  In many situations, you may be able to support your child without help from a professional.  Each family is unique and there are situations in which even the best parents may need help with their children and teens.

Here are some examples of situations in which your child may be struggling:

  • Life transition (moving to a new location, school, or losing a best friend or pet)
  • Refusing to attend school
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Social problems
  • Cutting or self-harm
  • substance abuse
  • Being defiant with authority figures

It’s okay to ask for help!

The above list doesn’t describe each problem a child might face, but a number of common problems are listed.  If you have attempted to help your child and believe you need support from a mental health professional, please contact us at Piedmont Counseling Center.  We have a therapist who specializes in working with children, Dr. Natalie Yates.  If you contact our office, we can help you schedule an appointment with Dr. Yates.  Our office manager, Anne Staley, will be glad to answer your questions about services.  We want to support you as you help your child recover and experience a positive transformation.
