What is a Social Worker?

A Social Worker is a licensed mental health professional who has completed a master’s degree in social work, completed supervised experience, and passed a board exam.  Piedmont Counseling Center is located in Kernersville, North Carolina, and we have team members who are licensed clinical social workers in the state of North Carolina.  Some social workers do not focus on therapy, but work in a public service role and help the public with social benefits and other advocacy tasks.  Other social workers focus their training on the provision of mental health treatment and this is the case for the social workers who are part of the Piedmont Counseling Center team.
